We’re halfway down February and maybe you have forgotten the thrill of the new year, the lists, the promises to do better and be better. No worries, I’m here to help you rekindle your fierceness!
Hello and welcome for my post for Fierce Female Reads February! We’re celebrating Valentine’s Day on the blog with my tips on how to be fiercer this year!
- Have a mindset for the year by creating your battle cry.
I only tried doing New Year’s resolution lists once in my life maybe when I was about nine years old. After writing the list, I just folded the paper away and forgot all about it. Even at such a young age I realized that New Year’s resolution lists will not work for me. They are difficult for me to remember and they are just a random, mismatched bunch of things I think I want to achieve.
I’ve heard about creating your word for the year since about 2015 and I was hesitant to do it because I was skeptical on how a word or a phrase can help me achieve my goals. I only just started doing it last year and I see how people love it!
For me, my battle cry reminds me of my WHY. When I hear it, see it, remember it, it just brings me back to my core reason on why I’m doing the work.
It’s not too late to create your battle cry for the year! Go ahead and listen to Arriane Serafico on how to set one!
Oh you’re curious on what’s my battle cry for this year? It’s CREATE WITH PURPOSE.
- “Do something today that your future self will thank your present self.”
I don’t know where I read this but it really stuck with me. I also want to share this reminder to you guys especially when we encounter hard times this year. Eye on the prize but also enjoy the journey!
- You need a budget–you really do.
Last year was kinda a bad year for me financially. Don’t get me wrong; I did not have big debts or anything terrible like that. I even had a salary increase. My problem was that I spent most of my money on things I do not even need and I can’t even remember some of those purchases now.
I’m still a beginner at budgeting but it really freed up my anxious mind. If you’re anxious over money matters I highly recommend reading You Need A Budget.
- Make your own self-care routine
There are no rules to creating your own self-care routine. For me, a self-care routine is all about the doings you love and enjoy after a long and tiring day or week. It can be playing video games, cooking, reading, ANYTHING that gives you joy.
One thing I included in my self-care routine is bullet journaling. It’s like therapeutic for me!
